Jaques back-to-back tons

Phil Jaques has scored his second test century in eight days, as Australia heads for another large total against Sri Lanka on the opening day of the second test in Hobart.

Australia is 2 for 194 at tea, with Jaques on 115 and Mike Hussey 20.

The New South Welshman endured a number of plays and misses in the opening hour, however Jaques was soon at his belligerent best, raising his century off 152 balls, including 13 boundaries.

Matt Hayden was dismissed for 17, wofting at a wide delivery at Dilhara Fernando and finding the edge. Ricky Ponting is the other man out, caught Mahela Jayawardene off Murali for a subdued 31.

The wicket took Murali to 703 test wickets, five away from Shane Warne’s record, however with the Australian batsmen in a dominating mood, it remains to be seen whether the Sri Lankan champion will get another opportunity to bowl in the series past this innings.
