Ben Cousins will not be charged by California Police after his alleged five-day bender in Los Angeles last month, although authorities have acknowledged Cousins was the subject of a frantic phone call which eluded to a binge.
“Our investigation has concluded regarding Ben Cousins, we will not be charging him with anything,” said Sergeant Paul Wolcott from Hermosa Beach Police.
“This remains what it was in the beginning, a rescue call (on October 31) regarding an individual at a location in Hermosa Beach who had overdosed on cocaine and had been on cocaine for the prior five days according to the person reporting and calling our emergency line.
“Our detective bureau made a determination that there was no reason to do any further investigation and that he would not be facing any charges here.
“The only thing that would change that status is if we were to receive any specific information related to narcotics activity here in California,” Wolcott said.
Cousins was yesterday suspended from playing in the AFL for twelve months.
