Cornes to fight striking charge

Port Adelaide’s Chad Cornes will face the AFL Tribunal this afternoon to contest a level two striking charge.

Cornes will miss Sunday’s twilight match against Essendon at Telstra Dome if he cannot defeat the charge. The incident stemmed from the opening quarter of Port’s weekend win over St.Kilda, when Cornes was deemed to have struck Jason Blake illegally.

West Coast Eagles midfielder Daniel Kerr accepted a three-match ban for head-butting Scott West from the Western Bulldogs.
