Collingwood v Carlton for Judd
Brendan Fevola, Lance Whitnall and Jarryd Waite are all candidates to head west, as the Carlton Blues look to deliver a package attractive enough to entice West Coast in exchange for Chris Judd.
I have it an authority that number one draft pick Matthew Kreuzer is non-negotiable, but their number three pick will be party of any deal. Two of those three players I mentioned could make up the rest of an agreement
A few weeks ago, Brett Ratten promised not to use Fevola as trade bait.
He must reconsider.
In fact the reconsidering will be done for him. President Dick Pratt is not a man who is told what to do, and if Dick has his sights set on something, he is almost impossible to stop.
If push comes to shove, I think West Coast would be delighted taking Fevola as part of a deal.
John Worsfold is a fan of Fev. He should have secured him three of four years ago, The Eagles could well have won three flags.
But all of this discussion depends on whether Judd even wants to go to the Blues.
Judd will see Carlton as a club that is still two or three years away, and I believe he’ll be more inclined to go somewhere where he can have immediate success. Collingwood is a club which cannot offer the sort of upfront cash the likes of Carlton can deliver, however there are many ways to skin a cat.
Collingwood can also put up something which may swing the odds.
Captaincy.
The captaincy of Collingwood may the sort of status that is too good too resist.
Also, there’s Rebecca to consider. The connection of Eddie McGuire and Channel Nine may lure Judd via a package which incorporates Chris’ girlfriend.
If Judd knows the security of his partner is ensured, he may be prepared to take significantly less money himself.
Essendon and Richmond could also be contenders, but this is a race in two.
Collingwood and Carlton.
Bring it on.
