Cats purr with another late show

Winning is a habit Geelong mastered long ago, however waiting until the final term to put the hammer down is quickly become another Cats trademark, with Geelong’s 15.15 (105) to 11.12 (78) over the Brisbane Lions at Skilled Stadium grossly flattering.

The under strength Lions burst out of the blocks to lead by 11 at quarter time. That margin was extended to 19, before the Cats worked its way to a four point lead at the main break and five point lead at the last change.

In the previous fortnight Geelong found an extra gear against Sydney and Fremantle, with Brisbane feeling a similar jolt today. Goals in quick succession to Paul Chapman and Steve Johnson created a handy buffer, with Andrew Mackie’s goal on the stroke of time added on killing off the contest.

Geelong move to 7-0.
