Bulls big collapse
A spectacular collapse has Queensland on the ropes in its day/night one-day clash with South Australia at Adelaide Oval.
Cruising at 0 for 58, the Bulls have slumped to 5 for 71 after 19 overs.
Missing captain Jimmy Maher due to a hernia and Shane Watson to a virus, Queensland made a rare positive start, with Nathan Reardon and stand-in skipper James Hopes racking up a half-century partnership. Reardon was controversially caught by Daniel Harris at point off Paul Rofe for 21. The left-hander was reticent to leave with doubts around the legitimacy of the catch. Hopes’ innings ended on 35 when he crashed into Rofe during a quick single, which saw the Australian representative short of his ground.
Jason Gillespie sent Clint Perren packing with a low straight delivery, trapping Perren for a fourth ball duck. The slide continued when Craig Philipson was caught in the slips off Rofe for 1.
Spinner Dan Cullen joined the party, removing Aaron Nye for 1, with the Queenslander caught brilliantly in the slips by Mark Cosgrove.
Ashley Noffke, The Bulls best player this season, is unbeaten on 5. Lee Carseldine is 1.
Queensland is second on the Ford Ranger Cup table on 16 points. The Redbacks are just one point behind in third.
