Australia wins netball final

Australia has regained its netball world championship title, with a hard fought 42-38 win over New Zealand in Auckland.
Australia led at every change, and by as many as 7 goals at one point, however a flat period late in the third quarter allowed the Silver Ferns back in the contest. With the game on the line, Irene Van Dyk missed two crucial shots late in the fourth quarter which proved costly.
Captain Liz Ellis led a superb Australian defence, more than cancelling out the wayward shootout up front. Australia shot at 70%, while New Zealand’s success rate at 83%.
Australia become World Champions for the ninth time.
