Australia on the brink

Serbia move to within one rubber of victory

Australia is on the verge of being dropped to the second tier of the Davis Cup, after Serbia took the doubles rubber in their relegation tie to take a two rubbers to one lead.

Lleyton Hewitt and Paul Hanley took the first set off untried duo Novak Djokovic and Nenad Zimonjic, however the home pair found their groove, storming to victory, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-2 in just under three hours.

Hewitt will now have to beat Djokovic in the first reverse singles rubber just to give Australia a chance, with Peter Luczak drawn to play Janko Tipsarevic in the final rubber.
