Australia loses openers, 2 for 225 at tea

The fourth test in Adelaide is in an intriguing position, with Australia 2 for 225 at tea on the third day against India.

The tourists took two wickets in the middle session, removing both openers. Phil Jaques played all over a sweep shot against Anil Kumble, bowled for 60. The first wicket partnership broken at 159.

Hayden reached his 30th test century, shortly before being bowled by a superb Ishant Sharma in-swinger for 103.

Ricky Ponting and Mike Hussey have battled against the excellent control from the Indian bowlers, their scoring rate increasing moderately shortly before tea. Ponting is 28, Hussey 20.

The tourists are missing opening bowler RP Singh, who has spent the day in the dressing room because of a hamstring strain. Sharma has been the pick of the bowlers, taking a mean 1 for 32 off 18 overs.

The Australians, 102 away from the follow-on, added 67 between lunch and tea.
