Auckland Blues stay alive in finals race
The Auckland Blues have recovered from a lapse after half time to beat Queensland Reds 35-22 at Suncorp Stadium, gaining an important bonus point.
The Blues led 20-7 at half time but allowed the Reds to take the lead on 60 minutes. The hosts helped Auckland’s flickering finals hopes by reverting to their error-riddled game, with lock Kurtis Haiu crossing in the 63rd minute. The lead was extended with a penalty goal, before Taniela Moa scored the Blues’ fourth try in the dying stages.
The Blues are within one point of the Super 14 top four, however fellow semi-final aspirants Wellington Hurricanes, Stormers and ACT Brumbies all have a match in hand.
