Aker back to his best

It was vintage Jason Akermanis at Telstra Dome as the Western Bulldogs held out a brave Port Adelaide.

The Bulldogs broke away to a 21 point early in the final term, however a Power purple patch, including back to back goals to Warren Tredrea, brought the margin back to within a goal, before Akermanis booted two goals in a minute. The former Lions star finished with three goals and 17 disposals, most laced with quality as he produced his most important performance since moving from Brisbane in the off season. Brad Johnson kicked five goals, while Tredrea finished with four for Port.

The Bulldogs move to 8 and 6 but are facing the prospect of losing Scott West for an indeterminate length, after he limped from the field in the second quarter with a groin injury.
