Molik and Pratt hammered

Australia is on the brink of being relegated to the Asia-Oceania zone of the Fed Cup, after Alicia Molik and Nicole Pratt were humbled on the opening day of the tie against Ukraine.

Molik’s straight sets (6-3, 6-4)defeat to world number 22 Alona Bondarenko was not unexpected, however Pratt’s demise was shocking.

Molik will take on 46th ranked Kateryna in the opening reverse singles rubber, and if she and Pratt can make a miraculous recovery and level the tie, Molik will partner Rennae Stubbs in the doubles.
