Aussie cricketers looking at an ugly trophy or ugly finish
DAILY SERVE: Sun 11/2
It’s the day of the 2nd triangular final. The day which could possibly see England, the team that were unceremoniously told to go home a month ago by the media, and sagely told to lift their game by the Australian coach, one good team effort away, or perhaps one terrific individual performance, [...]

Aussie cricketer’s finals loss three weeks in the making
A couple of years ago while doing media work at a non-descript rugby league training session, the players were noticeably tierce and in fact indignant towards the assembled throng. It was at that moment a former player, now a colleague, delivered a line never forgotten: The players reflect the coach.
Such a simple proclamation, yet [...]

DAILY SERVE: Fri 9/2
South Sydney’s decision to dump cheerleaders is the best thing rugby league has done in its efforts to water down the stereotyping of women. While the governing body has spent exorbitant amounts money over the last couple of years on education programs and camera-happy women’s rights campaigners, Souths have saved money and [...]

Aaron Baddeley wins but still yet to fulfill hype
Remember when Aaron Baddeley beat out Greg Norman at the Australian Open to win the crown as an amateur, before promptly turning pro? Not done quietly mind you. An enormous media event, hosted by Bruce MacAvaney. Wow, this must be important. I don’t remember Bruce hosting Brett Rumford’s turning pro celebration. The excitement. The anticipation [...]
