Jason Ryles’ season is over after the Dragons prop has lost his contrary conduct case at the NRL judiciary. Ryles will serve two weeks after being found guilty of unlawfully holding Cowboys hooker Aaron Payne around the neck during North Queensland’s 24-14 win over St.George Illawarra.
Ryles stayed quiet after the hearing, with Dragons CEO Peter [...]

Fittler enthusiasm rubbing off

By Jimmy Smith
No one enjoyed playing football more than Brad Fittler, and it’s that same infectious enthusiasm that he has instilled in his Roosters side. By all rights, they should have been flattened by the high tempo, high quality 90 minutes against the very physical Warriors last week - but they weren’t.

Menzies as good as ever

By Jimmy Smith
Manly confirmed that they are genuine premiership chances, despite the fact that the Knights have been in disarray this week. Or have they? Just because the paper says they are imploding doesn’t mean that is the case. Agreed it is not an ideal situation, but change to the degree that Brian Smith has [...]

The interview: Mark Geyer (page 3)

What do you remember about that tour?
On the field, I was named most improved on tour. I went away the fourth or fifth best second rower and ended up making my test debut against France.

Sam Kekovich: Tips Round 20

Collingwood v Melbourne
I’m telling you, the Demons are on a roll and can go back to back. Collingwood are shell shocked. They have been so insipid, dysfunctional and disgraceful in recent weeks that they can’t recover.
MELBOURNE
Essendon v Carlton
Carlton is a very good chance. The loss of Kevin Sheedy and the circus that continues to surround [...]
